Applying a different background colour to each texbox or a web control that supports the background attribute can give you an area to play with that can "jazz" up a form/page. Some modifications can be made so that the colour can be applied to border, fore colour or even text colur if the control supports it.
Scrubs Cast - Image From E4

My Mirror Image

Tonight at 9pm on E4 saw the 1st episode of season 6.

The staff at Sacred Heart return for a sixth season, and JD is still reeling from the news that he is going to be a father. Meanwhile, Dr Cox - while readying himself for baby number two - realises that his constant anger may have future repercussions. The Blue Man Group makes a special guest appearance.

I enjoyed this episode but what has happened to Dr Cox's hair (John C McGinley)? It's gone curly.  If you haven't ever seen scrubs I would recommend giving it atleast one viewing.   I am looking foward to see what the rest of the season brings.

Also a bit of good news is that there will be a Season 7.  This is due to be aired at the end of the year.

Notepad pictureI have had a couple of people contact me in relation to areas of my site that lets say look incomplete.

I do have a "to-do" list which includes my website but it's just time.

As it stands my website to-do list looks like:

  • Re-do the print CSS so that only the post is printed NEW
  • Fix the contact form as it looks pants NEW
  • Fix comment styles
  • Add some more styling to the contact form and the comment form
  • Fix width issues for Internet Explorer 7
  • Re-arrange site Sections to span across the top of the page under the main image
  • Re-arrange right blocks into a more readable order
  • Implement a loading status for the gallery pages
  • Change the post style slightly to make the footer (category/date) a little less in your face
  • Re-position the search block
  • Add icons to block headers

If anyone has emailed me about something that's not on the list please comment or get in touch.

Celebration

Happy birthday Jimmy

I would also like to wish you all the best in your new job.  Tomorrow will be a long day for you I bet.  Will catch up soon ;)

Welcome to my first article discussing the creation of a skin within the .NET blogging engine subtext. If you have downloaded and installed subtext you will have noticed that it comes with several pre-defined skins. While the pre-defined skins are varied and could easily be used it's sometimes necessary to create your own. The initial template will be styled to work in Fire Fox 2. I will be covering "styling for a specifc" browser in another article.

Everyone has favourite sites which they check daily to see what's going on in the world.  I subscribe to a number of blogs mostly nothing to do with work and this week there have been some absolute classics and some very odd:

German man programs "hello world" into wheat field

Video games hidden in the grooves of LPs

Police mediate over burst condom in brothel

Rats! Look who's getting tipsy on illegal booze

Missing: Large lake in southern Chile

Well we watched hot fuzz again and it's so good.  If you haven't seen it I would well recommend it.  Don't want to give to much away but some of the scenes are just class.

Part Amazon Review
A major British hit, a lorryload of laughs and some sparkling action? We’ll have some of that. It’s fair to say that Hot Fuzz proves that Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright’s brilliant Shaun Of The Dead was no one-off, serving up a superbly crafted British homage to the Hollywood action movie.

If you don't fancy buying it as your afraid it's just "not for you" then why not Rent it from Amazon

After reading some posts over on sitepoint regarding the recent release of Safari public beta I thought I would download it and see what the hype was all about.  I have to say that I use both FF and IE quite alot at home and at work.

Safari Public Beta 3 Screenshot

Now 2 browsers have a huge market so what can Safari offer over Internet Explorer and FireFox?

The fastest web browser on any platform, Safari loads pages up to 2 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.

And it executes JavaScript up to 2.8 times faster than Internet Explorer 7 and up to 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2.

Only time will tell how this browser performs.  Will be good to see how it handles some mashups like Twitter and iGoogle.

I am liking the RSS feature especially the "Article Length"  slider. Very swanky....

iPhone combines three amazing products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device.Source :http://www.apple.com/iphone/

This ad was forwarded to me.  The phone looks and sounds the business. Looking at it's spec I have to say that being revolutionary the onboard camera could have been a bit better rather than just 2 mega pixels.

The rest of the ads can be found at Apples wesbite http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/

Release date is the 29th of June 2007. Am not sure if this country specific or not...

Celebrity MasterChef - Image Source BBC

For anyone who hasn't been watching this series of Celebrity MasterChef where twenty four contestants have been battling it out comes to an end tonight.

Tonight see's them cook their best three-course meal where John Torode, Top Chef and restuarateur along with ingredients expert Gregg Wallace will cast there final decision where one  will be crowed Celebrity MasterChef.  The three that are going head to head are:

I say it's going to be a very hard call as all three contestants have there strengths and weaknesses. If anyone deserves it I think it has to be Midge Ure.  Good luck.

Update: Well done to Nadia Sawalha who won.  Tough call.

Phil does it again.  Back to basics in relation to using methods that already exist in the .Net Framework.

Aswell as his list some of the comments also contain pieces of code that are valuable and over looked.

Check out his post

Podcast(Wikipedia)

A podcast is a digital media file, or a series of such files, that is distributed over the Internet using syndication feeds for playback on portable media players and personal computers. A podcast is a specific type of webcast which, like 'radio', can mean either the content itself or the method by which it is syndicated; the latter is also termed podcasting.

There are thousands of podcasts out there.  We all have our favourites, most coming from recommendations.

My current iTunes podcast subscriptions are:

Yes I know there is a bit of a variety, it all depends on the day I am having.  If anyone has any other recommendations please comment....

As you may have noticed the website has been updated.  I took the decision to change the CMS from my own one which was really in beta to .  Subtext brings alot more functionality to the site and new features are planned.

If your looking for an asp.net blogging engine then check out subtext.

The theme is still being "tweaked" but it's not to far off so please bear with me. Also please check out http://site.gravatar.com as the comments section works in conjunction with it :)

Till Next time stay safe.....
